Sound familiar

Three ways a remodel goes wrong. What we do about each one.

01

The price that grows

The estimate was one number. The final bill was another, and the extras got explained after the work was done.

In writing: one fixed price after the consult. If the scope changes, you get a change order with the price on it to sign before anyone picks up a tool.

02

The contractor who goes quiet

Deposit paid. Then the texts take three days, the bathroom is open to the studs, and nobody will give you a date.

In writing: a start date and a finish window in the contract, payments tied to finished stages, and the last payment after your walkthrough. Dominick's cell is on page one.

03

The bathroom you cannot picture

Tile samples on the kitchen table never look like a finished room. So you guess, you sign, and you hope.

In 3D: you see the room before anything is torn out. Swap the tile, the vanity and the glass until it is right, then we build exactly that. Scroll down and try it.

The 3D bathroom

Design it in 3D. Then bring it to the consult.

A real bathroom model, lit the way a room is lit. Swap the tile, the grout, the fixtures and the vanity. Add a niche and a bench. See it in the morning and at night, then slide demo day and watch the old bathroom turn into the new one. Tap Bring this to my consult and Dominick walks in already knowing what you like.

The Northline Standard

Seven things we put in writing. Most contractors won't.

Every one of these is in the contract you sign, and every one is something you can hold us to.

  1. One fixed price, in writing

Within 3 business days of the consult you get the scope, the material list and one number. It holds for 30 days. No starting-at figures, no sign-tonight price.

  2. Change orders only with your signature

If something has to change, you get it in writing with the price before the work happens. Nothing gets added to the final bill after the fact.

  3. Milestone payments

You never pay ahead of finished work. A deposit books the materials, the next payments follow finished stages, and the last one comes after you walk the room and sign off.

  4. Flood test before tile

The shower pan is filled and held before a single tile goes on, and you get the photo. The plumbing is done by an Illinois licensed plumber.

  5. A reply the same day

Text, call or email, you hear back the same day. The number on this page rings Dominick, not a call center.

  6. A clean house every evening

Floors covered, dust wall up, debris out the same day, the path to the door swept before the crew leaves.

  7. Dominick on site at every stage

Demo, waterproofing, tile, glass, walkthrough. The person who wrote your scope is the person checking the work.

What triggers each term, and what we do

The fixed price covers everything in the written scope. If we open a wall and find rot or a plumbing problem nobody could see at the consult, we stop, show you, and price the fix as a change order before continuing. It is never covered over and never a surprise on the last bill. Milestone amounts and dates are listed in the contract. If we miss a reply day or a cleanup, tell Dominick and it is fixed the next morning. These terms sit alongside the written contract and the Illinois consumer rights pamphlet you receive before signing, plus your three business day right to cancel.

Real tile

A real tile shower, not a plastic liner.

The coupon ads sell an acrylic shell glued over your old tub and tile. We take the old surround out, waterproof the wall, flood test it, and set real tile by hand. Here is the honest comparison.

The coupon linerA Northline shower
What goes on the wall
A formed plastic shell glued over the old tub and tile.
Old surround out to the studs, new backer board, waterproof membrane, flood test, then tile.
Mold and rot
Covered up. If the old wall is wet, it stays wet behind the shell.
Found, fixed and dried before anything new goes in. You see the photos.
The look
A handful of molded patterns, often a printed fake tile.
Any tile you can point at. Marble look, zellige, subway, hex, large format.
Repairs
A crack means the whole shell.
One tile, one afternoon.
Resale
Buyers see a liner.
Buyers see a renovated bathroom.
Time
One day, and that is the whole pitch.
About two weeks for a walk-in shower, with the schedule in writing.

Where a solid wall panel is the right call, like a basic tub to shower swap on a tight budget, we say so and you see it in writing. We just will not glue a shell over a problem.

How it works

No surprises is the whole point.

Five steps. You sign off on each one before the next starts, and your money follows finished work, not promises.

Who shows up

“If I would not put it in my mother's house, it does not go in yours.”

I'm Dominick. Northline is my company, and I'm the one who comes to your house.

I started it because I kept hearing the same two stories from people in these towns. The remodel that cost a lot more than the number on the estimate, and the contractor who stopped answering once the deposit cleared. Neither one is a craftsmanship problem. They are a paperwork problem and a showing-up problem, and both are fixable.

So here is how I run a job. I measure the room myself. I write the scope myself, one number, in writing, before anything is torn out. I bring a small crew that does bathrooms, with an Illinois licensed plumber for the plumbing. I'm there for demo, for waterproofing, for tile and for the walkthrough, and my cell is on the first page of the contract.

You will not get a sales rep, a call center, or a sub you never met. You get me.

Where we work

The southwest suburbs, Orland Park to Naperville.

Homes built in the 80s and 90s with the original bathroom are most of what we do. Pick your town for the local notes.

Also Tinley Park, Bolingbrook, Shorewood, Romeoville and Darien. Not on the list? Ask. If it is within reach of Lockport, we will come out and measure.

    Questions

    Straight answers.

The ones people ask at the kitchen table. If yours is not here, text it over.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost?

It depends on four things, and you will have one written number before demo day. The drivers: tub or walk-in shower, tile or wall panels, whether the plumbing moves, and the vanity and fixture tier. The consult is where we pin those down, and the price you sign is the price you pay.

How long does a walk-in shower take?

About two weeks of work after demo, then the custom glass goes in one to two weeks after it is measured. A full bathroom runs three to five weeks. Your contract has the dates.

    Do I need a permit?

Almost always, and we pull it. Moving a drain, replacing a valve or wiring a fan needs an inspection in every town we serve. We register with your village, schedule the inspection and meet the inspector.

What if you find mold or rot behind the wall?

We stop and show you. The fix is priced as a change order you sign before we continue. It is never covered over and never a surprise on the final bill.

Who is actually in my house?

Dominick and a small crew that does bathrooms. An Illinois licensed plumber handles the plumbing. You meet the crew lead on day one, and Dominick is on site at every stage.

    When do I pay?

Never ahead of finished work. A deposit books your materials, the next payments follow finished stages, and the last payment comes after your walkthrough.

Can you just swap the tub for a shower?

Yes. That is a tub to shower conversion: same footprint, a low threshold, grab bar blocking in the wall, tile or solid panels, a glass door or a curtain. Most take about two weeks.

Can I pick tile that is not in the 3D designer?

Yes. The designer shows looks, not a catalog. Bring a photo, a sample or a showroom pick and it goes in the scope with a price.

Will I have a working bathroom during the job?

If you have a second bathroom, yes, always. If this is your only one, we plan the schedule around it with you, and the toilet is back in service every night it can be.

Is the consult a sales pitch?

No. About 45 minutes, measurements and questions. You get the written scope within 3 business days and decide on your own time. There is no price that expires if you do not sign today.

Do you do kitchens or basements?

Bathrooms, for now. If you have a bigger project in mind, mention it at the consult and you will get a straight answer on whether we are the right fit.

What happens after I send the form?

You hear from Dominick the same day. A two minute call to book the consult, usually within the week. Then the visit, then the 3D design and one written number.
